Sub 22 Conference
28 - 30 November 2022   |   National Wine Centre, Adelaide

Call for Abstracts

Deadline: 25 September 2022

The CSIRO Deep Earth Imaging Future Science Platform’s biennial subsurface symposium, Sub22, is accepting abstract submissions for the conference to be held at the National Wine Centre, Adelaide. Sub22 is centred on how to best overcome the shared obstacles encountered on the journey from imaging structures to predicting processes. The conference will deliver a diverse program of workshops, presentations, panel discussions, informal roundtables and networking opportunities.

Sub22 will bring together:

  •  Geoscientists in Academia, Industry and Government interested in learning about the building blocks needed for the transition from imaging structures to understanding processes.
  •  Early career scientists looking for a small conference with interdisciplinary networking opportunities.
  •  Applied geoscientists interested in how solutions developed to address questions in another domain of the geosciences might be relevant for them.

The conference will provide opportunities to reconnect with your colleagues and the wider Australian Geoscience Community.

We invite you to be part of this conference by applying to present.

Abstracts must be submitted through the abstract submission portal. Topics considered should fall under the themes, but areas outside of this and of interest to Sub22 attendees will be considered.

Topics will include but not limited to (see descriptions here):

  •  New sources of information about the subsurface
  •  Regional Water Resource assessments: opportunities and challenges
  •  What can we learn from the conceptualisation challenges in groundwater?
  •  Multidisciplinary investigations of deep and not so deep mineral and energy systems of the Earth
  •  Understanding the Deep Earth through transects
  •  Dynamics of sedimentary basins
  •  Natural Hydrogen

Following the Call for Abstract deadlines, all abstract submissions will be reviewed, and selections made by the Organising Committee.

Presentation formats could be:

  •  Oral Presentation, 12 minutes and 3 minutes for Q&A
  •  Poster Presentation
